Liz Polizzi Oertle is a business lawyer with a unique perspective. Not only has she advised companies of all sizes, from idea-stage startups to Fortune 100 public companies, but she's also been a founder/CEO herself, building a technology startup from idea stage to exit.
Liz began her legal career working as an attorney at a prestigious New York law firm and then at one of Denver's largest regional law firms, specializing in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions and corporate governance. Hailing from a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners, she has a talent for seeing not only the technical legal side of things but also the situation on the ground, enabling her to translate esoteric legal concepts into plain English for her clients.
In 2016, after working with startups for nearly a decade, she "caught the bug" and founded Nanno, an on-demand app for booking child care. As CEO of Nanno, Liz experienced the founder's journey from a whole new perspective, from participating in two accelerators (500 Startups and Quake Capital), to raising capital from angel investors, venture capital investors, and equity crowdfunding. She is still actively involved in the startup and investor ecosystems in Denver/Boulder, New York, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
As a founder, Liz was able to apply her legal background to building and running her company. Now she applies her founder experience to enhance the guidance and advice she offers to her clients.
Liz has represented companies in a variety of industries and a variety of stages, from early-stage startups to Fortune 100 public companies. As managing member of the Orbital Law Group, Liz employs that experience in the service of companies of all sizes, from small emerging companies to large public companies. She specializes in financing transactions, Regulation CF / crowdfunding transactions, mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions, commercial contracts, and corporate governance. She was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine in 2017 and 2018.
Before attending law school, Liz worked in the book publishing industry as a copy editor, proofreader, and managing editorial assistant.
